THE VISIT

Hand on the doorknob. Twenty minutes behind. No training for this.

Your patient finally works up the nerve to mention it. Low desire. Pain. Orgasm that stopped happening somewhere along the way.

You have a formulary with exactly two FDA-approved options you've never prescribed. So the visit ends the way these visits usually end: a sympathetic nod, maybe an SSRI review, and a problem that walks back out the door untreated.

Most sexual health training, if you got any, teaches you to hand off the problem. Refer to therapy. Suggest a lubricant. Change the antidepressant and hope.

The women raising these concerns aren't asking for a referral. They're asking you.

Same tissue. Same vessels.

Radically different clinical attention.

The Physiology

Female arousal runs on the same vascular, neurologic, and hormonal machinery as male arousal. Same embryology. Same nitric oxide. Same early-warning relationship to cardiovascular disease.

We treat erectile dysfunction in men as a five-alarm cardiac signal. In women, we don't even take the history. This course teaches you where the sexual response breaks down, what's driving it, and how to match treatment to mechanism instead of guessing.

This course is for you if

01

Patients disclose sexual concerns and you feel the visit stall, because you have empathy but nothing to work with.

02

You've changed the SSRI, checked the labs, called it "normal," and watched nothing improve.

03

You've reflexively referred out problems you suspect you could treat, if anyone had taught you how.

04

You want to know where the response breaks down, desire, arousal, or orgasm, instead of treating them as one complaint.

05

You see midlife women with arousal complaints and want to know what that says about their cardiovascular health.

06

You want to be the provider patients don't have to brace themselves to talk to.

Not for you if

You want a plug-and-play protocol you can copy without thinking.

You're hoping one pill fixes desire, arousal, pain, and orgasm.

You're not willing to take a real sexual history.

CURRICULUM

Six Modules. Every One Ends with a Patient

Module 1

Foundations and the Sexual History

The models of sexual response that organize the whole course, and the skill nobody taught you: a trauma-informed sexual history that fits a 20-minute visit.

The Case A 38-year-old with low desire. Disorder, or responsive desire measured against the wrong standard?
Module 2

Physiology

Female erectile physiology, the science of lubrication and orgasm, and the early cardiovascular signal we treat as a warning in men and ignore in women.

The Case A 52-year-old on an SSRI and a beta blocker reports "low desire." The real story is vascular.
Module 3

Diagnosis: Desire, Arousal, Orgasm

The DSM-5 diagnoses and the question that changes everything: where in the response does it break down? Plus the hormonal workup worth doing, and the medication logic: adjust, switch, augment, or wait.

The Case Three rapid diagnostic cases, including one deliberately ambiguous presentation most clinicians get wrong.
Module 4

Pain, Penetration Disorders, and GSM

The pain cycle, vulvodynia and vaginismus, the trauma-informed pelvic exam, GSM treatment, and the hardest question patients bring: local estrogen after breast cancer.

The Case A 29-year-old with provoked insertional pain and a "negative workup."
Module 5

Treatment I: Behavioral and Non-Pharmacologic

The best-evidenced interventions in sexual medicine aren't prescriptions. Pelvic floor PT, vibratory therapy, directed masturbation, cognitive and erotic tools, and the referral map, with scripts for raising all of it.

The Case A 45-year-old orgasmic alone but not partnered. Build the plan and the care team.
Module 6

Treatment II: Pharmacologic

Every agent organized by mechanism. Hormone therapy, testosterone for HSDD, the FDA-approved agents with honest effect sizes, and mechanism-based off-label prescribing.

The Case Two patients, identical complaint, opposite mechanisms. Build both plans and justify every agent.

CLINIC-READY TOOLS

What you can use at the next visit.

Included with the course and built for a 20-minute appointment. The functional lens tools cover the physiology underneath the complaint: hormones, metabolism, medications, and sleep.

Sexual history intake template with language scripts

Exam technique checklist

Pharmacology quick-reference, by mechanism

Lubricant selection guide

Patient handouts

Referral map with vetting questions

Hormonal and metabolic lab panel guide

Functional Lens

Medication and supplement review checklist

What Makes This Course Different

Case-based by design

Every module ends with a real clinical case, from first disclosure to final plan.

Physiology first

Female sexual function taught as the vascular, neurologic, and hormonal system it is.

Honest about the evidence

Realistic effect sizes. What the FDA-approved agents deliver. Where the data is thin.

Teaches the conversation

Language scripts, normalizing openers, and counseling approaches for the topics clinicians avoid because nobody showed them how.

QUESTIONS

Before You Join.

No. The diagnostic framework, history-taking skills, and behavioral interventions apply whether you prescribe, refer, or support. Pelvic floor PTs, therapists, RDs, and other clinicians working with women will use this content daily. Pharmacology modules are taught at prescriber depth.

The course assumes zero prior sexual medicine training, because that's what most of us received. Module 1 builds the history-taking skills and frameworks before any diagnosis or treatment content.

Both. The course covers sexual history, physiology, and diagnosis, followed by behavioral, non-pharmacologic, and pharmacologic treatment approaches. Modules 5 and 6 focus specifically on treatment, including pelvic floor PT, counseling approaches, hormone therapy, and medication options.

One year. Work through it at your own pace and revisit any module whenever you need it.

Accreditation has been submitted to Pinnacle Conference, LLC for joint providership (ACCME, ACPE, ANCC) and is pending. We expect 6+ contact hours, but credit is not guaranteed until it is confirmed. If you enroll before approval, you will be notified of the decision and can claim credit at completion once it is finalized.

Course opening details will be announced.
